GEOLOGY OF IDENTITY
The project was inspired by the research of Erving Goffman.
In our everyday lives, we "put on masks", creating public identities to show ourselves to others as we want to be seen. Sometimes we hide certain traits and exaggerate others to gain approval and avoid hurt. However, these everyday masks can stick so tightly to us that we lose our true identity. My goal is to show how important it is to maintain the ability to access our authentic face, hidden under the layers of our public images.
